Hi Guys,

Do you own a car? Can you tell us 1) What car you own? 2) How old is your car (which year make) and 3) How much did your last service cost.

This is an effort to discuss after sales ownership costs on cars, so that other members can understand the costs involved in maintaining a car after purchase.

Please do share any expenses you have had on your car due to un-due or un-avoidable service or maintenance as well.

Thanks

Sam

Hi,

I Own a Cielo 1997, it was fitted with Toyota 1N Turbo diesel engine. It was also modified with Super King A/C on it with R12 gas.

My last spend on the car for A/C gas leak.

R12 AC Gas 1/2 kg - 300.

Labour - 100.

Now plan to convert the AC to 134 gas. We need to change the Compessor oil seal and two hose from the compessor with complete cleaning of the entire kit. Then it needs to fill up with 134 Gas and its oil. It will cost around,

Spares: 500

Gas and Oil - 600 (Approx)

Labour - 700.

Car is doing good at all times and gives me around 15+ in city and 18+ in highways. It was almost crossed 1,00,000 and going on...

I own a Ford Ikon 1.6 zxi of 2002 model. It is an excellent car and gives impacable service. I service once in 6 months as my daily average run is less than 15 Kms.  It costs about Rs.2500/ including oil and coolent change. The frequect trouble i have experienced in this car is the silencer as our speed breaker deisgn and the rear silencer mounting do not match. If there are three heavy weights in the rear of the  car and it rools over a speed breaker of steep nature it touches the road and the mounting bushes fall off.

Last services needed a oil change I spent Rs.3200/ including filter change, seal change etc.

During my usage of last 6 + years I found this car reuires minimum service and gives trouble free performance. In the case of japanese Cars, if periodic services are not done, problems corpup immediately.

Hi,

I own a Maruti 800 DX 5 Speed 2001 Model. I paid Rs. 1350/- for my last service, The normal service charges in Maruti ASC is something between 1200 to 2100 for all the services, except the one at 30000 KMs I paid Rs. 5150/- as there was some component replacements were there,  like, Plugs, All the oils, Break Pads, Suspension Gas, etc. etc.

My car is now 40000 KM still giving the same performance and comfort as the new. reaches to 140+ KMPH on highways, and gives 25+ KMPL mileage on highways and nothing less than 19 KMPL in Bangalore city with AC on.

800DX5S is an exception in high mileage and law maintanance. can maintain it and drive it wth the comfort of a two wheeler.

Regds, Jani.

Dear RK Gupta,

You mentioned Swift 1998? Maruti Swift was only launched around year 2005. Is yours an imported model?

Rs 6000 sounds a bit on the higher end, However it depends how much work had to be done. Based on what you have mentioned, Replacing Oil, Filter and Engine Flushing, Rs 6000 sounds expensive.

Manufacturer recommendation always says 10k or 1 year whichever is earlier. So, based on that you will have to service in May-10.

I own a Hyundai Accent (GLE) and is Dec 2007 model.

The last service costed me around 4,000/-.

So far I’ve not faced any issues with service or maintanence because the car initially came with 2 years of warranty and Hyundai has an option of renewing warranty upto 5 years and I religiously do that.

Hope this helps.

I have Ford Fiesta ZXI Petrol, bought in 2007, 24K KM driven so far..have extended warranty of one more year (3 years in total) till 2010 Sep.  So far, there is no big issues with my car, doing wonderful. Since it is under extended warranty, i have not paid anything other than the labour cost..

I have clocked 150Km in highways and it is very much dependable and having good control at high speed...great car to own..i would say this is the best driver car with in the mid size sedan section..

There are few (minor) problems i am facing now..i do use A/C always, never drove with out A/C..there is a noise wwith the A/C belt when i start the vehicle in the morning and evening (mean after a long break)..other than that there is no issue...

Cheers
